Web applications & e-commerce

When your business needs software rather than pages - logins, databases, bookings, payments, dashboards - this is the work.

Some businesses need more than a brochure. A booking system that reflects real availability. An online store with inventory that stays accurate. Customer accounts. An internal dashboard that replaces the spreadsheet everyone hates.

We build full-stack applications for exactly those cases. The same principles apply as on the marketing sites - fast, accessible, no unnecessary complexity - with real backend engineering behind them. Pokemon Go Trading, one of our own projects, runs thousands of monthly active users on this stack.

What's included

The work, in detail.

User accounts and authentication

Sign-up, login, password reset, roles and permissions, built securely rather than bolted on.

Databases and data modeling

A schema that fits how your business actually works, with row-level security so customers only see their own data.

E-commerce and payments

Product catalogs, carts, checkout and Stripe payment processing, including subscriptions and one-off charges.

Booking and scheduling

Real-time availability, confirmations, reminders and calendar sync for appointment-driven businesses.

Admin dashboards

An interface your team can actually use to manage orders, customers, content and reporting without calling us.

API integrations

Connections to the tools you already run - CRM, accounting, email marketing, messaging, mapping and more.

Data visualization

Charts, calculators and reporting interfaces that make complicated numbers usable, like our Rent v Own calculator.

Multilingual support

Properly built translations rather than a browser widget, for businesses serving bilingual communities.

Questions

Straight answers.

How is custom work priced?

With a custom quote, not a rate card. We scope the project first, then give you a fixed price before any work starts - no blank cheque, no hourly billing, no surprise invoice at the end.

Do I need the monthly plan too?

Not necessarily. Custom applications can be a one-off project you host yourself, or they can sit on a monthly plan that covers hosting, monitoring and ongoing changes. We will explain the trade-off honestly for your situation.

What technologies do you use?

Whatever fits the job rather than whatever is fashionable. Typically that means a modern JavaScript or TypeScript front end, Postgres for data, Stripe for payments, and edge hosting. For simple marketing sites it means no framework at all.

Can you take over an existing application?

Often, yes. We will audit the codebase first and give you a candid assessment of what it would take to maintain or extend it - including telling you if a rewrite would genuinely cost less than continuing.

Want this for your business?

Start with a free consultation. We will tell you what you actually need, even when that is less than what we sell.
